This piece of writing is for you, if phrases like “you have a unique gift and not sharing it with the world would be selfish” cause you to roll your eyes or doubt yourself, if the word “purpose” and “dharma” do resonate but also cause discomfort or a sense of annoyance — because our world, social media and marketing “experts” use these words in ways it makes me not only want to roll my eyes but offer something different. I’ll tell you why in a few moments.
Leo Season
A season to begin to let your heart lead the way. To invite joy, play and authenticity. To shine your light into the world.
To ask yourself what you would do if “real life” or responsibilities weren’t in the way — and how you’re possibly sacrificing yourself, your dreams, by putting others first, their needs, happiness and dreams.
It might be easier, more comfortable and safe, to stay in this pattern. But what would change if you decided to boost your self-belief, started listening to your heart and take responsibility for your own life? If you took back your power and leadership over your life. Which is not selfish.
The highest expression of Leo reminds us of our capacity to lead from the heart, from our inner wisdom, to serve humanity by sharing our gifts and message.
I can’t tell you how often I’ve heard people say “you have a unique gift and not sharing it with the world would be selfish” or “what’s your unique message”? This created a lot of pressure within me. I wanted to believe it in the beginning, I knew I wanted to serve and contribute, share all these beautiful, powerful teachings, right away.
And later I understood that we are allowed to first lean into what brings us joy, peace, to experiment, to start sharing little by little, take one step at a time, to practice, like really practice, not only a few times. If you feel inspired by an experience, a practice, I know it can create almost a pressure, an immediate reaction of “I need to share this” or “the world needs to hear, read this”. I believe there’s a difference between our inner knowing of this wants to come through me and I need to share everything that helps or inspires me. So I’d invite you to just reflect for a moment and ask yourself, from which place this impulse is coming from (and it’s for sure a spectrum and not black and white): is it coming from a felt, embodied experience, or the belief that you have to give (more)?
Learning and reading don’t equal felt experience and devotion. There has to be both to walk courageously into new terrain. Growth happens when we integrate, process, learn from experiences, take time to reflect, re-align, allow ourselves to dream, take action, experiment, rest, and repeat the cycle.
Leo Season is about expressing yourself freely, to be your authentic self, to serve humanity — that doesn’t mean you have to lean into giving all the time. Leo reminds us to gather our energy, to rest, tune into the heart, to feel courage rising in relation to how much we love ourselves and life.
And if you have BIG dreams, great! For me, these big dreams and visions overwhelmed me at times, I felt like I could never make it happen. I found myself stuck in dream land.
Far away, far too often. I’ve been escaping the present moment instead of taking aligned action for quite a while. And while I believe that it’s human and a part of the process, I hope you (and me) take a little step this season, whenever we feel an impulse.
If you’re asking yourself (or me), how you can feel these impulses, I’d recommend slowing down, to be, to listen, to journal, to rest, as often as you can. It doesn’t need to be an hour, start with a few minutes.
This season...
Dare to open your heart fully, to let it lead the way.
This new moon and season is a call to courage.
Live into who you say you are (or want to be).
Turn inwards, listen. To hear your own voice, to connect with your heart truths.
Rest, charge your batteries. So you can unfold from within. Express your truth. Be bold and kind. Honest and compassionate.
Take the time to reflect if you’ve put too much faith in the reflections others have of you, maybe to the point that you’re not able to acknowledge and appreciate where and who you are.
Surround yourself with people (or begin with yourself) who help you see more of your magic and light. But do not depend on the clear mirror others might be able to hold up for you. These beings are not here to motivate, push or convince you, but rather deeply at peace with themselves, soft, honest and loving. This is possibly for each human being. It’s a process, though.
Begin to recognize your own power and ability to love yourself, to be yourself. Become aware of your strengths, passion and gifts.
Accept the parts of you that seem difficult to love. Especially those. See yourself through the eyes of unconditional love. The practice I share it the end will support this attitude and process.
“Your love for life, the need to feel alive and express yourself, and the quest for that which is truly fulfilling... these are the sacred urges that rebel against fear and promote passion for being alive, they flow through your blood and can be felt through the beating of your heart." - Alana Fairchild
Courage comes from love, self love and the love that is alive within every being on earth.
The love that reminds us that we’re not separate beings but connected, by our hearts and energy.
The love that reminds us that we’re all part of an ecosystem, which needs us to be ourselves, to love ourselves, to believe that our choices, actions, dreams and lives matter.
To move from fear (of rejection or failure) to love for life we have to lean into trust, devotion and joy. So the doubts and fears will slowly dry out, seem less alive and attractive, choosing to feed love instead of fear each time we notice this pattern of doubting, overthinking, judging, criticising and diving into worst-case scenarios.
Instead ask yourself, how feeding love could look like in your life. How can you follow and walk the path of aliveness, joy, curiosity, openness, kindness, compassion, gratitude and excitement? The path your heart already knows. Let it lead the way.
Exploring the high and low frequencies of Leo can give you an idea of where in your life a shift is needed
We can always move from the lower to higher frequencies. And we also get to celebrate where we feel aligned! This overview is meant to help you become more honest and compassionate with yourself - so you can begin where you are.
High frequency: letting the heard lead, living from a place of love, authentically sharing your gifts, expressing your truth, a sense of playfulness, curiosity and joy, in your power, taking responsibility, showing up for your own life, connected to inner knowing, bold, deep love
Lower frequency: depended on external validation, blaming others for misfortunes, fear of rejection, drama, closed heart, putting others first, fear of being judged
The new moon (and season) is inviting you to…
(inspired by the book Lunar Living by Kristy Gallagher)
Ask: where am I feeding fear (of rejection, failure)? Where am I putting other people’s needs, dreams, projects first?
ask: how do I want to speak my truth and share my heartfelt gift and authentic voice with the world?
Step into your power, lean into love and devotion.
Express yourself
Let your heart lead the way
Rituals and Ceremonies
“Ritual is one of the ways in which humans put their lives in perspective (…). Ritual calls together the shades and specters in people's lives, sorts them out, puts them to rest.”
We just had the most heart opening New Moon Ceremony on Sunday morning. Karen and I love co-creating these spaces. I return to these rest practices over and over again. It is self care in its softest form and yet deeply transformative. The breathwork adds a little spice to the experience, so we can begin to move energy within our system. To surrender and release. To shake and float. Let us know if you want to receive the recording or join the next one on September 3rd, 7-9pm.
And as always, we're curious about your experiences, insights and questions. Just drop us a message and say hi.
Much love,
Teresa
